Michael Rosen - SOLD OUT

Michael Rosen

At the start of 2020, Michael Rosen nearly died from COVID on three separate occasions. He spent seven weeks in an induced coma, several months recovering in hospital and many more months in rehab. Michael makes a very welcome return to Ripon to read from his new collection for grown-ups. The Advantages of Nearly Dying records his slow and painful battle with long-COVID (‘I can’t hear with my left eye, I can’t see with my left ear and I get muddled’) and shares his thoughts about the pandemic that led to over 200,000 deaths in the UK. Whimsical, grim, warm, philosophical and comical, it's a book about hospital appointments, waiting-rooms, blood-tests, brain-scans, eye-tests – and a song of praise for the NHS and its staff.
